Diane Taylor has had several careers as a medical lab tech, a teacher, a sailor and a writer. She   is the author of The Gift of Memoir and is well known as a workshop presenter and teacher of memoir writing. She started writing while sailing in the Caribbean because life on the ocean and in the islands was so fresh and immediate, she felt an urgent need to record it, to re-experience it in words. A book resulted: The Perfect Galley Book. Diane will give a workshop on writing a memoir of your own at the Spirit of the Hills Festival of the Arts on Saturday November 4th at St Peter’s Church in Cobourg. Kim Aubrey is a poet and short story writer. Her collection of stories What We Hold in Our Hands, published in 2013 by Demeter Press, received excellent reviews. She is an experienced workshop presenter and has run a successful writers’ retreat in Bermuda for many years. Reva Nelson is the author of Risk It!, Bounce Back! And, her latest book, ‘Hippie Chick Abroad’ which is her successful memoir of the last year of the Sixties. She has been an actress, a teacher-librarian and ESL teacher and was the owner of “Words Worth: Keynotes & Seminars”for over 20 years. Last year Reva moved to Cobourg to enjoy the lake and small town life. She now facilitates groups and provides personal coaching on life changes and challenges.

Peter Lockyer a journalist for many years in both Europe and Canada wrote numerous  articles and made countless video productions for CBC as an independent producer. He has worked as a media trainer and still does this for the Canadian military. In 2000 he returned to his home-town of Picton and became involved in historical preservation and restoration project. In order to raise funds, he developed the very successful   History Moments Series which are played on several TV stations including CHEX in Peterborough, CKWS in Kingston, TV Cogeco and in several theatres in the area. Peter is the chair of the Prince Edward County Heritage Advisory Committee and a member of the Prince Edward County’s 225th Anniversary committee being celebrated this year.

Patricia Calder was born into a family of eight authors and started writing at age 11 in a Hilroy notebook, which she carried on field adventures. Always a lover of stories, she studied fiction writing under Canadian authors Matt Cohen, Katherine Govier, Anne Simpson, and Christy Ann Conlin, among others. Patricia has published many short stories and creative nonfiction pieces. In 2015 she released her novel Roadblock. Since then Pat has written, and illustrated with her photographs, an account of her visit to Sable Island and 2 new short stories will be published this November in Hill Spirits III

Patricia Arato’s book The Language Thief  is her “personal story, one that has taken a life-time to unfold” her memoir tells of her many years caring for and rehabilitating her aphasic ex-husband and how , because of that work, she became the driving force behind an independent speech recovery centre, which has become a model for similar centres around the world

Marie Lynn Hammond has written poetry, plays, short fiction, radio essays and non-fiction magazine pieces, as well as two screen plays as well as co-writing a YA novel. She is also an experienced editor. But her primary focus has always been song-writing. She released her latest CDs in 2013, entitled Hoofbeats and Creatures. She is directing and performing a staged reading of her play De Beaux Gestes/Beautiful Deeds at the Spirit of the Hills Festival of the Arts. on November 3rd 2017
